LAAAASSST BLOOOOG

Today is a free topic so I'll write about one of the musician that I like the most, it's not my favourite because I don't have one. His name is Jorge Drexler

I discovered Jorge Drexler because of the movie The Motorcycle Diaries, this movie is about the journey of Ernesto "Che" Guevara and his friend Alberto Granado, around Latin America. He wrote the main song of the soundtrack called "Al otro lado del río", at first I only knew this song and for a very long time I didn't look for more songs of Jorge. But one day I went to youtube (I like finding some artists or bands in youtube) and I started to search songs of him.

He's a uruguayan musician and a fun fact he's also a doctor. He was born in Montevideo, and his both parents were doctors, he always was interested in music, he took classes of composition and guitar and while he studied medicine he recorded two albums but only for his country. He has been recorded twelve albums, and this year he released his last called "Bailar en la Cueva". To promote his new album, he did a tour around latin america including Chile.

I like him because besides of singing, he composes his songs, I think this is amazing in any musician, also his lyrics are like poems with music.

ps: this have been the one and only song in spanish that has won an oscar.

Almost last blog.

Well, actually this semester I didn't enjoy writing in my blog because I did it in the first semester so it wasn't like anything new, also I don't like writing blogs I think that I'm not good at it. On the other hand, this entire semester have been hard for me, my subjects were more difficult than the first semester so I missed plenty of english classes, sometimes for studying for the others subjects or sometimes just for rest or sleep.

I thought that this english level would teach me to translate papers because in some subjects the teacher sends you a paper for a essay that you have to write it based on that paper, but if you don't understand it, you probably get a not very good grade, that's why I thought that this level could teach me to do that because is very useful for all the students. Also, this level could teach us some technical vocabulary about our careers, but I think this would be hard because in each level are about fifteen students of different careers and only one teacher. I like the second module because you can talk with the other classmates about different topics and the whole class doesn't seem so boring.

I think that I need to improve my speaking level because the other skills like writing, reading and listening are not hard for me, I'm not an expert but I understand clearly, my speaking is not bad but I get so nervous when I trying to speak, that's why I need to practice more. I always try to practice my english skills by listening to music, I try to pay attention to the lyrics and understand what they are singing, also I help my cousin with his english lessons because it's hard for him and that makes me to repass some vocabulary and stuff.

Think Green

Nowadays, the environment and ecology are very present in the discussions because of the global warming and the arctic issue. Is very important to learn about this topics so each year more and more schools are doing some projects to recycle anything. For example, last year in my high school with my classmates. we recycle plastic bottles to make planters for medicinal plants, it was a project to reuse the bottles that we daily use in our homes. The grade of one of my friends reuse the boxes to transport fruits and vegetables in furniture like chairs and shelves. It was pretty fun and very eco friendly these two projects.

Back in Castro, I used to walk everywhere because the distances were so much shorter than here in Santiago, that's why I don't walk so much in this big city, one of the reason is that I live in a different commune of where I study and I'm always late. Also, I used to recycle the batteries because they cause a very important damage in our brain if it mix with the water, so we don't have to throw it away. we have to throw it in special places because there are some companies that take care of this.

I don't think in myself as very eco friendly, besides these things that I mentioned. I mean, I always try to throw the garbage in the trash can or walk whenever I can, but I'm not doing anything with a big impact to promote ecology. I have thought of join Greenpeace or some organisation like this one, but I have never tried it. It could be because you have to pay a subscription and I don't make money on my own.

I think that everyday there are people who are trying to protect the environment, like bury their organic garbage in their own yard or making organic fuel. Also, through social networks people promote this kind of things by creating pages where you can learn how to reuse your own stuff.

So far so good?

This year was pretty amazing to me, and still is....

This year I started study Psychology at Universidad de Chile, I never thought that I could be here because I always had doubts about "what to study?" and "where?", my first choice was Temuco, the same career, because I didn't think that I could enter in this university.

Later, I had to come to Santiago to looking for a place to live, it was hard because this city has a lot of apartments but everybody are looking for one, after all the hunting, my cousin and I finally found a nice apartment to live.

The first semester was harsh, not much for the subjects but all the change from high school to college, plus, you start to live by yourself, so you have to pay the bills, do the dishes, do the laundry, clean up the whole apartment, etc, because I'm not from Santiago, I'm from Castro, that means that I'm living away of my family. On the other hand, I have met many new people, that's one of the most great things that happened to me this year so far.

My main achievement in 2014 was that I survived to a semester at university and also now in a way, I live by myself and haven't died yet.

But, it still hasn't finished this year so I need to pass all my subjects, that's my goal. Another goal is I don't want to do any exam, but so far I haven't fulfilled this last goal, I have a couple of months to make it, though.

Hopscotch

I don't have a favourite book but I have to choose one to write about... so I choose Rayuela.

Rayuela (or Hopscotch) is a novel by the argentine writer Julio Cortázar, it was published in 1963. The author wrote it when he was on Paris, so the book takes place in France and in Argentina.

Rayuela is many books in one book, because Cortázar did a table of instructions of how to read it, so you can read it in order or disorder or however you want. This one of the things that I like about this novel. Also, I like because it has some chapters that it seems to be some kind of poems, and then continues to telling the story of the protagonist.

The plot is about an Argentine intellectual called Horacio Oliveira who lives in Paris and he has a  sort of group of friends with whom he discusses about literature, poetry and music.
Horacio has a strange relationship with La Maga, a woman who has a baby called Rocamadour. She's missing and he's looking for her through Paris.

Actually, I haven't finished this book because I started reading it in this past summer and then I started University, so now I don't have time to read it. I have plenty to read but for the differents subjects. I recommend this book to anyone who likes reading, because this novel it has differents topics.

PS: Yesterday was Julio Cortázar's 100th Birthday, so I'll post the doodle that google did in his honor.

Travel

If I have money for travelling, I would travel to London I guess but for no particular reason, just to know that country. Maybe, one reason could be that I like the british accent, it's so funny. Also, the final episode of the season four of Friends takes place in London and those guys had so much fun there.

London is the capital of England and a beautiful city that it has so many famous landmarks like "The Big Ben", "The London Eye" to name a few of them. The first thing that I would do in London would be go to the King's Cross Station, particularly to the 9 3/4 platform.

I'm a Harry Potter fan, I have read the all seven books and of course watch the eight movies, that's why I would like to go there. Then, I would go to the famous landmarks that I mentioned before.
I don't know if I would study there, I mean it has pretty important universities like Cambridge and Oxford, but I think that the education here compared to London is very different so it could be hard. But If anyone (God maybe) give me the chance to go there to study I would say "sure, why not?"
